課程概述

This course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge and skills concerning academic English writing and writing consultation from the perspective of linguistics. This course includes two hours of lecture plus one hour of group discussion. Topics to be covered include common rhetorical patterns, paragraph/essay development, grammar functionality, peer editing/review and essential techniques of writing consultation. 

課程目標
By the end of the course, students are expected to
● Develop the ability to think, analyze, integrate and innovate in academic English;
● Understand basic concepts of English academic writing;
● Be familiar with basic skills of writing consultation;
● Apply the knowledge to their composition and critique of academic writing;
● Evaluate and improve writing of their own and that by their peers.
